Rent a cotton candy machine, popcorn maker or crepe griddle: what each one delivers

For a kids' party, school fair or adult birthday, these three machines are often rented together or in pairs. Each has its own operating logic, supplies and cleaning requirements. Understanding the differences before booking prevents last-minute surprises.

The cotton candy machine heats a spinning drum that turns colored crystallized sugar into thin threads. At outdoor events, strong wind disrupts cone formation; position it with its back to the wind or inside a tent. In enclosed spaces the results tend to be more consistent.

Hourly output: cotton candy, popcorn and crepe

A cotton candy machine typically produces 30 to 50 cones per hour, depending on the operator's skill. Each serving uses about 15 to 20 g of colored crystallized sugar; a 500 g bag yields around 25 to 30 cones.

A popcorn machine rental usually delivers 40 to 60 liters per hour. A cup-sized serving (about 3 liters) takes 3 to 4 minutes per batch. Popping corn and oil are usually not included; confirm with the owner in the Alugoae chat before paying.

A crepe machine for a party makes 20 to 30 crepes per hour at a serving pace. The basic batter uses flour, eggs and milk; fillings are the renter's responsibility. Check the griddle diameter: 28 cm models are most common for home parties; 40 cm models serve crowds of 50 or more faster.

110 V or 220 V: confirm before the party

Cotton candy machines typically run on 110 V, drawing between 1,000 and 1,800 W. Popcorn machines fall in the same voltage and wattage range. Crepe griddles vary: some are 110 V, others 220 V, and a double griddle can reach 2,000 W.

Before confirming the booking, ask the owner in the Alugoae chat for the exact voltage and wattage of each machine. If the venue has only one outlet type, find out in advance so you can arrange the right extension cord. Never use an improvised adapter on equipment drawing more than 1,500 W.

Support table and minimum space for each machine

Each machine needs a firm, level surface. The cotton candy machine is tall (around 80 cm with the drum attached) and needs at least 50 x 50 cm of table space. The popcorn machine has a glass or acrylic dome up to 60 cm high; leave enough room for the operator to reach inside without leaning over.

The crepe griddle is flat and compact, but any wobble will spill the batter. Reserve about 80 cm of counter space for the batter bowl, filling ingredients and serving plates.

Cleaning before returning: agree with the owner upfront

Discuss cleaning with the owner in the chat before confirming the booking. The cotton candy machine builds up hardened caramel in the drum; a warm damp cloth right after use usually removes it without abrasive cleaners. Let the equipment cool before cleaning to avoid burns.

The popcorn machine traps oil and unpopped kernels at the bottom; empty it and wipe the inner walls while still warm. The crepe griddle accepts a damp cloth while warm; dried batter on a cold griddle takes more effort and can scratch the coating.

Photograph the equipment at pickup and at return. This protects both parties if residue or damage appears that was not your doing.
